5. CABLE PREPARATION-SINGLE SHEATH, WITH PLASTIC INSULATION

5.1 Mark the outer sheath for a 6" opening, at least 20 inches from any closure or cable  termination.  Scuff and clean a 4 inch area completely around the sheath at each  end of the marked section.

5.2 Remove a 6 inch wide section of outer sheath and shield from the center of the  scuffed area,  Place several layers of vinyl tape, adhesive side up, over each butt end of the exposed plastic wrap, flush with the edge of the outer sheath.

5.3 Push the base of the Bond Clamp (round end first) between the core wrapper and the shield so that the stud is flush with the edge of the outer side of the opening.

5.4 Remove plastic core wrapper from the 6 inch opening.  Carefully cut and remove  all visible group binders.  Loosen the core by probing with an orange stick or Sempic  at a 45° angle.
